For our offers within the statewide network of graduate academies in Saxony-Anhalt, we define postdocs as “someone holding a doctoral degree, whose primary activity is conducting research and who is in a transition phase towards a long-term career path inside or beyond academia“ EUA-CDE (2024, p. 5). We focus primarily on the early postdoc phase (R2 according to the European Framework for Research Careers), when researchers are still in the orientation phase of exploring different career paths.
Typical characteristics of the early postdoc phase (R2):
- professional training and further specialisation
- on the path towards a leadership role
- on the path to independence
- temporary or limited term contract
During this phase, we would like to provide you with targeted support in preparing for the next steps by keeping you informed about new developments and funding opportunities, offering guidance on career paths, and highlighting networking opportunities. In our event calendar, you will find workshops and events near you. In addition, every September during Postdoc Appreciation Week, there are numerous additional (online) opportunities.
